What Makes A Good Diamond Blade? Easy, Diamond Content 💎♕

I get asked what makes a good diamond blade almost daily. Trust me, there isn’t one simple answer to this question. When those telemarketers call you, pushing you to buy their indestructible diamond blade, just ask them, what is the diamond content of that blade. I will guarantee you, they won’t have the answer! That is unless, they read this article or just blurt out a nice guess …98%????

There is actually only 3 answers to the diamond content question. In regards to regular general purpose diamond blades that go on a cut off saw, the diamond content is not as much of a factor as it is for professional diamond blades built for high speeds.

First is the lower end of diamond content in blades. This metric is 35% diamond content. This is the lower end and will limit how much life and cutting action the diamond blade will actually provide. The middle diamond content is 40%. This is most diamond blades on the market. These will be moderately priced and offer good solid life. Any contractor that is cutting concrete and asphalt on a regular basis. Any concrete PRO or road cutting pro should be investing their money is diamond blades with diamond content of 45%. This will be the best bang for your buck and offer the greatest linear footage and cutting action.

In closing, 40% diamond content in blades is more than satisfactory. If you watch the video, you can hear us explain that this is mostly in regards to pro blades, typical 14″ diamond blades for asphalt and concrete will almost always have 35-40% diamond content. If you have any questions, please fell free to reach out to us.

Construction And Ductile Pipe Cutting Downtown Boston MA 💎♕

Ductile pipe cutting requires good tools to be effective. We talk about ductile iron diamond blades a lot. Mainly, it is important to use a blade like the Iron Man X to get through the material fast and safely. Using a general purpose diamond blade in a ductile iron pipe application will severely limit the blade’s life and also put the cutter at risk.

Lost segments are always a main concern when using a diamond blades that is not specifically designed for the cutting application. Abrasives are ok to use, but dangerous because of the toxic debris they give off while cutting. Also, you burn through abrasive discs so quickly it is not cost effective.

In this video, we captured a worker cutting into some ductile pipe in Downtown Boston’s Seaport District. A ton of heavy duty construction and site work are going on currently in this district.

One last point on using ductile iron diamond blades, is that the abrasive core seals off the ductile pipe and prevents the pipe from folding or pinching…. Very important. Anyway, use ductile iron diamond blades.

How To Change Diamond Blade On A Husqvarna K760 Gas Cutoff Saw

As a Certified Husqvarna rep, we move a ton of Husqvarna gas cut off saws. Now…. you would think that if you’re buying a piece of power equipment, and you are a contractor, that you know how to change the diamond blade on your fresh new saw. Well, that is certainly not always the case. I estimate about 10% of all saw purchases result in a blade changing tutorial. I’m going to come clean, I certainly did not know anything about saws, blades, or the installation process until I started working here, so I feel your pain!

It is really easy to change the blade. Husqvarna actually provides the tool to unscrew the lug nut. You can store the tool on the saw in a small eyelet made specifically for this purpose. Here are the simple steps to changing your diamond blade on a Husqvarna saw:

  1. Lay the saw on a flat surface so the saw is stationary on the ground. The rubber fittings on the bottom will ensure the saw doesn’t move or slide while you are putting the diamond blade on
  2. Use a small pin and insert it into the saw on the opposite side of the nut. This will lock the diamond blade so that it doesn’t spin while you unscrew it
  3. Use the wrench provided on the handle of the saw to unscrew the lug nut. It only takes a couple turns to loosen it, it is quicker and easier to do the rest by hand
  4. Take the used diamond blade off and use it as a frisbee with your co workers, this will give you a little break to enjoy the sunshine and relax for a few. This is great for team building
  5. Ignore the frisbee part in step 4
  6. Place the diamond blade onto the washer and make sure it rests flush on the piece. Husqvarna has a 1″ arbor, so you will need to knock out the brass arbor attachment if it is still on the saw.
  7. Place the metal plate on the flatter side over the blade and screw in
  8. Make sure you tighten fully and the blade is flush and cleanly affixed, doing so will extend the diamond blade life, prevent warping or wobbling and ensure a safe cutting application

Like I said, easy process overall. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can contact us for any diamond blade or Husqvarna cut off saw information or trouble shooting.

The Best Asphalt Diamond Blade For Cutting Action

0

Here it is, the best asphalt diamond blade in the world! Asphalt is a soft abrasive material. This is the exact reason you need a specially formulated diamond blade to cut through asphalt effectively. The diamond blade needs a hard bond to cut a soft material. This allows the blade to maintain a long life throughout the cutting process. If you use a regular general purpose diamond blade, it will “cut”, but it will not last very long. Buying diamond blades can get quite expensive, so getting the correct diamond blade for the right application is important. If you do use a general purpose diamond blade to cut asphalt, you are putting yourself at risk. This is due to potential undercutting, which is when the core wears down faster than the actual segments which cut. This could cause a segment to dislodge from the core and be a danger to the operator and the people around the cutting.

best asphalt diamond bladeAsphalt diamond blades come with undercut segments which limit the chances that they will actually undercut. In regular cutting applications, going with a more economical blade is ok, with asphalt, I always recommend spending a little more. The Arix Ninja Diamond Blade that we produce is literally the best 14″ asphalt cutting diamond blade in the world. The stacked diamond segments are proprietary to our manufacturing process and allow the blade to cut 20% faster than typical laser welded asphalt diamond blades. In addition to that, Arix Ninja diamond blades last up to 30% longer than the competitions, again due to the layered segments.

Diamond Blade Gift Bag Swag 🎁

I go to Dunkin Donuts every day and spend at least $5. Not once, have I been given a t shirt for being a loyal customer or even a free coffee. I don’t have a problem with that at all, but, if they did give me a free coffee with every fifth one ordered, I’d be a happy camper. If they gave me free t shirts and coupons along with said free coffee, I’d never buy another coffee any where else. Diamond Blade.

That’s what we do at Diamond King. These gift bags are for our biggest and best customer. Every foreman received a free t shirt, $20 Dunkin Donuts gift card for their crew and coupons on specialty masonry tools. Diamond Blades are a tough business, so when respected companies choose to go with us, we are sure to thank them as much as we can.

We’re not bragging or anything, we do this stuff because we truly appreciate the business. Customers don’t ever have to ask us for great service, it’s second nature. Thanks for the biz!

Good Photos Of Custom Made Diamond Blades

These are a few custom made diamond blades we made for a road cutting customer. The rim thickness is .375 as opposed to standard .160. The customer needs this cutting thickness because they install reflectors in a joint cut into the road. We had never made a diamond blade thick thick previously. It is a BEAST!

We custom make hundreds of diamond blade orders a month for our customers. Everything from rim thickness, segment height and bond can play an important factor in how the diamond blade responds while cutting in certain applications. There are so many different types of saws and saw brands, that in any sort of professional or custom cutting scenario, a diamond blade will have to be specially formulated to perform properly..375 rim thickness diamond blade 375 concrete diamond blade
