On Episode 3 of Will It Cut?, we put the Tiger Shark diamond blade to the test to see if it will cut through an old office chair from IKEA. The chair is a basic office stool that has a metal from and plastic seat and back rest.

Diamond blades are made to cut metal. There are special blades like rescue blades and ductile iron diamond blades that tear through metal like it ain’t not thing. In this case, we wanted to use the Tiger Shark to see how it did on a cheap metal frame, but also to see how it cut plastic. A diamond blade should not cut plastic easily. The plastic should heat up and gum up, preventing the blade from cutting in it’s desired manner. We used a Husqvarna K770 and Tiger Shark Diamond Blades to do the cutting.

For predictions:

Chris said it will cut right through the metal but struggle with the plastic

Nelson said it will cut right through both

Colby said it “would light up like the 4th of July”

RESULTS

The Tiger Shark breezed through the cheap IKEA chair metal frame and plastic. There was 0 resistance and it was a very simple. Plastic should gum up diamond blades during the cutting process. I think that because there was such a small amount of plastic being cut, it didn’t give us any problems while chopping it up. Too easy for Diamond King diamond blades.
