They are cutting through about 5 inches of concrete that has the piping underneath that is needed to keep the ice in skating conditions. In this case, he is using a Bone Crusher 14&#8243; x .120 with 13mm segments specifically bonded for high speed cutting. The piping is stacked every 6 inches or so.
